New Zealand Earthquake (2010-2011) Commission Reports

Posted by cdj On January - 17 - 2013

After the Christchurch, New Zealand, earthquakes of 2010 and 2011, the Canterbury Earthquakes Royal Commission of Inquiry was established to report on the causes of building failure as a result of the earthquakes as well as the legal and best-practice requirements for buildings in New Zealand Central Business Districts. The inquiry began in April 2011 and was completed in November 2012. The Commission website provides very useful report access to an array of informative seismic investigations and reports. Reports include:

Foundations on Deep Alluvial Soils: Technical Report by Professor Misko Cubrinovski and Ian McCahon, August 2011 and short peer-review comment on this report by Professor Jonathan Bray.

Reports and discussions of issues leading to the collapse of the CTV building in professional ‘statements of evidence’ testimony (for example: Professor Nigel Preistley and Professor John Mander), in opinions expressed in the CTV consultants’ report, and in the Expert Panel Report.
